John Reichart genuinely gave his life to Jesus way back in 1977 at age 16, through a Young Life Club in Darien, Connecticut. He immediately streamed into one of of the rare, spiritually vibrant, charismatic Episcopal churches in the country, Saint Paul’s — also in Darien. It was a formative, foundational gift where he experienced the phenomena of the Holy Spirit working in/through an available, flawed teenager (himself!) to be a blessing to others.
A second formational and supernatural gift was meeting his soon-to-be-wife, Kate, in Boston in late 1985. The deeply personal, specific ways the Holy Spirit engineered this was remarkable and beautiful to John — and equally so to Kate.
The rest of John’s background flows out of those two foundational gifts: Fifteen years in the advertising business — but on the side, serving as a supportive church plant team member for two Vineyard churches in Massachusetts. After resigning for his last advertising job at age 38, John co-pastored and planted a Vineyard in Hopkinton, Mass., along with his wife, Kate (his true companion) and their three children. Then in 2002, he was called (what seemed like a sovereign and prophetic transfer!) to re-establish a nearly closed Vineyard Church in Guilford, Conn. After 15 years in Guilford, John became the Growth/Discipleship Pastor at a Vineyard in Long Island for the next eight years. During that stretch, Kate became a certified Spiritual Director and John a certified pastoral coach. As of 2026, he’s is back in Connecticut (Madison this time), serving as a pastoral coach to five Vineyard Churches...and otherwise helping with Kate to care for our two wiggly grandchildren.
