Rock Discipleship School

Deeper. Stronger. Focused.

Our Discipleship Program is designed for those who want to be intentional in their growth and development as a follower of Jesus.

Together, we grow closer to God (UP), build deeper relationships with one another (IN), and reach out to serve our community (OUT). Along the way, we’ll guide you to find your unique place and pace as you move toward the fulfillment of God’s promises.

These are structured classes, not just a casual study, offering focused teaching and practical application in an in-person setting.

Each session runs for 8 weeks in the Fall, Winter, and Spring, and participants are asked to commit to attending at least 6 of the 8 sessions. There are two class opportunies available, Wednedays nights at 6:30pm or Thursday mornings at 10am. Enrollment requires a completed form and enrollment fee of $35 (per session to cover supplies. Payments can be submitted in person to the church office via cash, check, or card.

Upon finishing a session, participants will receive a certificate of completion.

What is Discipleship?

Discipleship is the intentional process of growing in your relationship with Jesus Christ through learning, mentoring, and practical application of God’s Word. It involves studying Scripture, developing spiritual disciplines, and living out your faith in daily life.

Discipleship equips believers to understand God’s calling, grow in spiritual maturity, and serve others with love and purpose. It is both a personal journey and a communal experience, helping you become more like Christ while supporting others in their faith walk.

Who is the Discipleship School for?

This program is perfect for anyone seeking to strengthen their Biblical knowledge, engage in intentional discipleship, and prepare for ministry opportunities within the church. Participants will have the opportunity to explore Scripture in depth, develop a solid foundation in theology, and learn practical skills for serving others.

Through guided teaching, discussion, and hands-on experiences, you’ll grow in your understanding of God’s Word, discover your spiritual gifts, and gain the confidence and training needed to step into leadership or ministry roles within our church and beyond.

Fill our the enrollment form online or print/download it and submit to the office. Contact the office to submit the $35 enrollment fee.

  • This class starts Sept 12 (runs for 8 weeks).

We embrace the gift of the Spirit, we practice the presence of the Spirit in our worship services, through the exercise of the spiritual gifts, and we try to be sensitive to the prompting of the Spirit in our individual lives. These things, our worship, spiritual gifts and acting on the prompting of the Spirit are the expressions of the spiritual life. But there is also something called “discipline for the spiritual life. Discipline is activity carried on to prepare us indirectly for some activity other than itself. We don’t practice the piano to practice the piano well, but to play it well.” Our worship, exercise of the gifts, etc. is the performance of our life in the spirit. We must practice so we can be aware of His movements and become vessels of His kingdom.

In this 8 week class we will explore some of the practices that the church has used throughout its long history from some of the early church fathers to today. This class will be a combination of teaching and practice. We will learn about multiple ways to practice personal disciplines of faith, such as silence, study and prayer and then we will take time to apply them to our lives and discuss these experiences.

  • Hermeneutics is a useful tool to use as we read our Bibles and learn to interpret its meaning in our lives. It is also important to recognize that we read the Bible and understand it through our own life experiences and the culture in which we live. Since all proper doctrine arises out of the interpretation of scripture, it is logical that at the root of doctrinal differences lies hermenuetical differences.

In this class we will be given tools and principles for studying Scripture. We will also discover the way the Bible has been understood by groups of believers from different places in the world or social locations.
