What is Lent?
Lent is a meaningful season in the Christian calendar—a 40-day journey that leads us to the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday. It’s an invitation to slow down, reflect, and draw closer to God as we remember the sacrifice of Jesus. Through His death, we are redeemed. Through His resurrection, we walk in victory over sin and death. Lent helps us prepare our hearts to fully receive and respond to that truth, grounding us again in the depth of God’s love and the hope we have in Him.
Inspired by Jesus’ 40 days of fasting and prayer in the wilderness, Lent is often practiced through prayer, fasting, and generosity. These aren’t just traditions—they’re intentional ways to realign our hearts with God. Whether it’s letting go of something that distracts us or adding a new rhythm that strengthens our faith, Lent creates space for God to work in us. It reminds us that our redemption came at a great cost and calls us to live with gratitude, surrender, and renewed devotion.
As we walk through Lent, we’re reminded not only of Jesus’ sacrifice but also of the victory we share because of His resurrection. The cross was not the end of the story—it was the beginning of a new covenant, a living hope, and new life for everyone who believes. This season anchors us in the truth that no matter what we face, our victory is found in Jesus. Lent invites us to live in that light and to reflect it through love, service, and compassion toward others.
At Living Rock Church, we embrace Lent as a season to draw closer to God and to one another. Together, we remember Christ’s sacrifice, celebrate His victory, and renew our confidence in His promises. We invite you to journey with us as we prepare our hearts to rejoice in the hope and triumph of Resurrection Sunday.

At Living Rock Church, Lent is a season of intentional spiritual growth—both in our Sunday gatherings and throughout the week. On Sundays, we come together for heartfelt worship, practical and relevant teaching, and shared moments of prayer and communion as a church family.
During the week, we encourage everyone to lean into personal reflection and simple, meaningful rhythms like daily prayer, reading Scripture, and serving others. Lent becomes a time to slow down, refocus, and create space for God to deepen our faith and shape our hearts.
